Johanna (Jo) completed her Occupational Therapy degree in 2010 in South Africa and has been working in Paediatrics for over 10 years. Jo has a wide range of experience and has done further training in Ayres Sensory Integration, vision loss, challenging behaviours, autism, cerebral palsy, etc. She is passionate about working with children

Jo has a wide range of experience and has done further training in Ayres Sensory Integration, vision loss, challenging behaviours, autism, cerebral palsy, etc. She is passionate about working with children and their families and believes in creating a neurodivergent affirming and supportive therapeutic environment.

Ashley Graduated from the University of Alberta in 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science in Occupational Therapy. She specializes in working with kids with Autism, Seizure disorders, Developmental delay and more. She has taken advanced training in: -Behaviour management and emotional regulation (Ross Green and Stuart Shanker) -Executive func

Ashley has lived in the Okanagan for 4 years and loves all that this area has to offer including, beaches, skiing, yoga, biking and hiking.

Kids PlayAble Therapy offer assessment and treatment for children of all ages; support can be offered in the following areas:
Integrating the constantly changing sensations from our bodies and from the environment, to help make sense of the world around us.
Activities such as eating, dressing, washing, toileting and sleep.
Numerous mental skills that allow the mastery of learning, including skills like time management, planning, following directions and memory.
Fine motor skills: Using the small muscles in our hands and wrists to help us with tasks at home, school and during every day tasks, such as, tying knots, drawing, cutting, writing, doing up buttons, holding a spoon.
Gross motor skills: Whole body skills such as being able to balance while getting dressed, sit and stand upright, run, jump, skip and play sports.
Accurately interpreting visual information that helps skills such as literacy.
Support and nurture social emotional development
Play is a child's work and through play children learn.
Embracing all communication- voices, bodies, hands, feelings and/or technology. Examples are self-advocacy and expressing needs, turn-taking and conversation flow, building and maintaining relationships, and more.
Examples of literacy are vocabulary development, storytelling and narrative skills, understanding different types of texts, and more.
Examples of language are pragmatics (social language), problem-solving & critical thinking, sentence structure & gramma, and more.
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD; therapist is on RASP list), ADHD, Vision Loss, learning challenges, dyslexia, dyspraxia, sleep and eating challenges.

Kids PlayAble is located at 11B-3300 Smith Drive Armstrong, British Columbia, V0E 1B1, Canada. Our main entrance is at the back of the building, towards the highway.
It large therapy gym with equipment to support sensory integration and promote play and learning. For those not able to get to Armstrong, virtual services are offered for residents of British Columbia. Most funding sources accepted, please inquire if unsure.
